Striking Competition Rules

6-Bell Contest Rules

1. Each Branch may enter one team of members of that Branch. All teams must be paid up members of the Guild, and members must be regular Sunday service ringers at the same tower.

2. The host Branch will tell the Guild Secretary the venue eight weeks before the competition. Only the resident band may ring at the host tower after the announcement.

3. A draw for the order of ringing will be made at the start of the competition. The order shall not be made known to the judge.

4. Before ringing the test piece, all teams may ring for up to five minutes as practice. This practice time excludes adjustment of ropes etc.

5. Two whole pulls on the treble will signal to the judge that the test piece is about to start. All ringing after this signal will be judged.

6. Test piece: either

a) 120 true changes of a Doubles or Minor method

or

b) Call changes lasting at least 4 minutes.

7. The judge may use any system of marking.

8. The judge’s decision is final.
